Hassina Mouri is holding a full Professor position at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.  In addition, she was recently appointed Vice-President of the International Union of Geological Science (IUGS) and Member of the Council of the UNESCO – International Geoscience  Cooperation Program (IGCP) for a period of 4 years.  Her research activities are in Medical Geology with a special focus on Africa. She started developing this field in Africa in 2013. Since then she trained (and continue to train) several postgraduate students coming from different countries in Africa including South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya.
