Dennis Allin graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1983 with an MD degree and subsequently graduated from the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Texas Tech University in 1986.  In 1989 he accepted a position as the second hire ever in the new division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kansas.  In 1992 he became the Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine, then Chair of the new Department of Emergency Medicine which now has 26 faculty and 24 residents in an accredited Emergency Medicine training program.
