Dr. Asima Bhattacharyya is a scientist at NISER-Bhubaneswar, India. She received her PhD from the Jadavpur University, India, and obtained her postdoctoral research training in Gastroenterology from the University of Virginia, USA. Her group at NISER studies the role of hypoxia and Helicobacter pylori in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer. She identified crucial roles of HIF1 and Siah proteins in gastric cancer, published many high impact research articles and won several awards. Dr. Bhattacharyya is a member of many professional societies. She serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.
