Prof Sisir Kanti Nag earned the B.Sc. in Geological Sciences and M.Sc.  in Applied Geology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He stood 1st in First Class at the M.Sc., Final examination. He started his teaching career in the Durgapur Govt. College under West Bengal Educational Services (WBES) in the year 1985 and served there for five years. He then joined in the Jadavpur University in 1990. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Science from Jadavpur University. He has made original contributions in the area of Hydrogeology and Remote Sensing & GIS. His work in the field of hydrogeology is recognized on International level and has been quoted by many foreign researchers in their research works. He has successfully conducted research works to solve many groundwater related problems which has many societal impacts. His research work has also been cited, quoted by research papers published in International and National journals.
