Pankaj Kumar Choudhury received a Ph.D. degree in Physics in 1992. From 1992 to 1997, hewas a Research Associate in the Department of Electronics Engineering,Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi, India). In 1997, he joined the Department of Physics, Goa University (Goa, India) as a Lecturer.In late 1999, he became a Researcher at the Center of Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL), Laval University (Quebec, Canada). From 2000 to 2003, he was with the Faculty of Engineering, Gunma University (Kiryu, Japan), as a Researcher. In May 2003, he received the position of Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University (Cyberjaya, Malaysia) where he was until late 2009.During that span, he also served the Telekom Research and Development (TMR&D, Malaysia) as a consultant for projects on optical devices. In late 2009, he became Professor at the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia, Malaysia).His research interests lie in the theory of optical waveguides, which include complex mediums, fiber optic devices, and nanoengineered structures. He has published over two hundred fifty-five research papers, contributed chapters to 17 books, and edited and co-edited 07 research level books.He is the reviewer for nearly four dozen research journals.He is the Section Editor of Optik – International Journal for Light and Electron Optics (Elsevier, The Netherlands), and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications (Taylor & Francis, UK).He is Senior Member of IEEE, OSA and SPIE.
