Dr. Kamal Jit Singh has completed his PhD at the age of 30 years from Panjab University, Chandigarh (India) and also pursued postdoctoral studies from the same Institute. He is a Professor in the Department of Botany and Curator of P.N. Mehra Botanical Gardens of the Institute. He has published 33 research papers in reputed journal, authored 3 text books for the undergraduate studies and also guided 6 students for their doctorate degrees. The priority areas of his research are (i) phytochemical screening and bio-evaluation of the medicinally important plants of Indian Himalayan Range (IHR) (ii) physiological and biochemical studies of the legume crops under abiotic stress conditions such as drought, salinity and heavy metals (iii) role of polyamines, nutrients, Ca+2 and Zn+2 ions in the ameliorative studies of heavy metal toxicity.

Research Interest:
(i) phytochemical screening and bio-evaluation of the medicinally important plants of Indian Himalayan Range.
ii) physiological and biochemical studies of the legume crops.
 (iii) Role of polyamines, nutrients, Ca+2 and Zn+2 ions in the ameliorative studies of heavy metal toxicity.
