Prof. Francesco Frecentese research activity is addressed to the design, the synthesis and the characterization of molecules active on several pharmacological targets. These studies are mainly focused on the application of microwaves in the synthesis of pharmacologically active derivatives. Dr. Frecentese has been focused on the synthesis and structure−activity relationships of heterocyclic compounds with serotonergic activity, on the development of agents in the field of peptide active on protease activated receptors (PARs). Moreover, he synthesized compounds acting as H2S releasing molecules and/or inhibitors of enzymes involved in H2S production and recently focused the attention on the synthesis of anti-HIV-1 molecules.
