Intensively researched on in vitro tissue culture, micropropagation, doubled-haploids, transgenic development in agri-hort crops, molecular markers on fish gynogenesis,development of tetraploids and trangenic rohu for firster growrth rate& bioprospecting of medicinal plants of Bay Islands used by aboriginals. Undergone 15 trainings, bagged 10 prestigious awards, invited 27 times to chair/invited spiker in International. conf. sessions, member of 15 professional societies, served as reviewer of 14 journals. Supervised 9 Ph.D theses, 18 M.Sc dissertations, Published 161 research articles, 116 conf. papers, 16 books. Handled 15 externally funded & 3 Network projects of Rs. 415 crores from DBT, DST, DoAC, PPV&FRA, NMPB MoEF & ICAR. Under his stewardship, as former Director, Indian Institute of Seed Science (ICAR), Mau has emerged as a Centre of Excellence. Presently working at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres ,Barrackpore, Kolkata 700120 on harnessing of cell technological approaches for enhancement of jute and allied fibres in one institute funded project ,another WB-DST sponsored project as well as serving as Mentor of a National Post-Doctoral Fellow under N-PDF project of SERB-DST,New Delhi for transgenic development in flax with added values.
