AbulKalam M. Shamsuddin, MD, PhD had been a Professor of Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore MD, USA till June 2020. Currently, he isa Visiting Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD, USA; and Vice Presidentat Early Detection, Inc. San Diego, CA, USA.

Prof. Shamsuddin graduated from Dhaka Medical College of the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, trained in Pathology at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland (UM) affiliated Hospitals in Baltimore, and obtained a PhD degree in cancer research from UM. He joined the UM faculty in 1977 as Instructor and rose through the ranks of Assistant and Associate Professor with tenure to full Professor. He received the Best Teacher of the year award many times, and the American Medical Students Association’s Golden Apple Award in 1999.

Besides various pathologies,Prof. Shamsuddin’s focus has been the study of cancer formation and cancer prevention. His research on early stages of carcinogenesis has resulted in the development of a simple test for mass screening of cancers and precancers of the colon, lungs, breast, prostate, uterus, etc. To bring this invention to humanity he co-founded Early Detection, Inc.(www.Cancer.us).Prof. Shamsuddin is also the pioneering scientist to demonstrate the anticancer and immune modulating action of the B-vitamin inositol and inositol hexaphosphate (IP6; www.ip-6.net). He holds several patents on the screening test and IP6, has published numerous scientific papers, book-chapters, and books; and has been a well sought-afterspeaker throughout the world.
